This message was forwarded by Ms. Tina Shepard. All nutrition students please read!

This March, the Student Nutrition Council will be hosting it's first
annual National Nutrition Month event at the ASU Poly campus Student
Union!

The event will start on Monday, March 24 and run thru Thursday, March
27. Each day we will be at a table set up in the Student Union from
11:00am to 1:00pm (to catch the lunch rush).

The SNC is looking for volunteers to help man the table at the union
that week. We will be handing out pamphlets on general nutrition
info, reading food labels and food facts. We will also have portion
plates and food models available, and possibly a healthy snack to hand out as well. Each day of the event we will do a drawing for a cool
prize, like a National Nutrition Month 2008 t-shirt, insulated lunch
box, travel coffee mug, etc.

Shifts for manning the table will be in one hour shifts for each day,
so even if you can only do just one hour on just one day, please sign
up. You're also welcome to volunteer for all days and times too!

If you are interested in helping out with this event (it will look
great on your resumes or internship applications!!) please contact

Join the SNC at the next House of Refuge nutrition class!!
Posted by Christian Payan on 10/26/2007 at 5:58 PM

The first Friday of every month, the SNC goes to the House of Refuge, a domestic violence shelter at the ASU Polytechnic campus, to teach a nutrition class for the resident children. The next House of Refuge volunteering event is next Friday, November 2 at 4:00pm. We are planning on having about 20-25 kids at this meeting so it would be great to have some extra hands there to help out. The topic for the class will be "The Dairy Group" from the food pyramid. After having a snack and lesson on milk and dairy with the kids, we will be going outside for an activity, so if you'd like to come and help out, make sure to dress comfortably!

Five Weeks Till Finals!!
Posted by Tanya on 11/01/2006 at 7:13 PM

The semester has flown by and we only have five weeks until finals begin! November is a big month for the Student Nutrition Council. We have various events and meeting scheduled. Check out the “Calendar of Events” to find out all of the dates and details. Remember, to become a member all you need to do is attend three SNC meetings and/or events.

The SNC will also be holding elections at the end of November. Two of our officers will be graduating—we are all very envious of them! We need to fill the positions for secretary and historian for next semester. We will be having an end of semester “de-stress” party on November 30th at noon and will vote on the new officers at that time. If you are interested in becoming secretary or historian please let one of the current officers know or attend this meeting.

We hope to see you at the upcoming SNC events!!

We are currently planning our October meeting. We will post the date, time, and location on this site as well as on fliers around campus. We will also post information of upcoming activities on this site as well as on our bulletin boards. Please continue to check the web site and our communication boards in HSC for updated information.
